AECOM, a major U.S.-based infrastructure consulting firm with a global workforce of around 51,000, collaborates with Wonder Works on projects in the UK and Ireland. We focus on enhancing transport systems, covering roads, public transit, active travel, and accessibility.

Our task involved making the National Roads Network Indicators fully accessible. We expanded the color palette, aligning primary colors with TII brand guidelines and introducing secondary and additional colors for readability and chart clarity. Helvetica Neue, complying with TII guidelines, was the chosen typeface with four weights for consistency across the document.

The layout primarily follows a two-column grid with three to four font sizes, including 12-point for body text and 9-point for footnotes. TII blue ensures headings’ legibility. For broader charts and maps, a three-column grid is employed when needed.
